Warba City Council Meeting 

December 11, 2006 

 

 

The Warba city council meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.  The pledge of allegiance was read.  All members were present.  Minutes were discussed and a motion was made by Don Hawk Seconded by Ellen Coffel Approved 5-0.  Treasurer’s report was read.  A motion by Dana Marrier Seconded by Amy Marrier to accept the treasurer’s report.  Approved 5-0.  Bills were read and a motion by Don Hawk Seconded by Ellen Coffel to pay the bills.  Approved 5-0.

 

UTILITY:     Ken Seibert and Dana Marrier discussed getting at least three proposals for water tower cleaning this winter.  The school is connected to the city water main for the new sprinkler system and is up, running, and fully functional.  Ken Seibert purchased a heater for working on the pumps in the winter, previousely approved by council.  Tami Elich mentioned that there is still one unpaid water/sewer bill.  She will research options to develop a standard protocol to handle late/non-payment utility bills and in the meantime will issue another request for payment.  Dana Marrier read the letter sent to MPC regarding the last review of the cities sewer/water treatment facility. 

 

Zoning:  Nothing new to report.

 

Community Center:  The tree was put up at the community center.  Dana Marrier reported that the Minnesota Department of Health sent a letter regarding putting up some type of back splash behind the sink to prevent deterioration.  Discussion regarding the back splash was tabled. 

 

Recreation:  The students have been cleaning the restrooms as a form of disciplinary action when they disobey school rules.  The rink has not been flooded yet, but plans to do so will happen in the future.

 

Fire:  No new news.

 

Cemetery:  Dana Marrier mentioned that he did attend the last cemetery board meeting and there was discussion regarding canceling the pre-perpetual fund.  Gary Hildreth is resigning from the board for Feeley and is not running for Township Supervisor.   

Other:   Amy Marrier and Niki Mistelske will be meeting with Chris Krueger to renew his liquor license. 

Correspondence:  The LMC sent a letter regarding rates, dividends, and coverage changes, a letter was received from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources regarding 2007 Grant Applications regarding parks and recreation, The LMC sent a letter regarding why there are variations in property taxes, LMC sent a note regarding their next leadership conference for $195 a person to be held in Grand Rapids January 12 and 13, a public notice was sent regarding demolition fee increase, Ed Jones sent a voting referendum, and the ARDC sent a letter regarding Communities under 10,000 Rep. for Itasca Co.  RLK Incorporated sent a letter regarding Project Financing, Kootasca-Community Action Partnership sent a letter regarding joining their board. 

 

Old Business:  Dana Marrier reported that he stopped by Lake Country Power to discuss the street light on 6th Ave.  Lake Country Power said they are working towards getting to it in the near future. 

 

New Business:  Dana Marrier mentioned that he recommended that if anyone wanted to go to the Newly Elected Official training it was a fantastic training program.  Don Hawk shared the information provided from LMC on the training.  Registration by the 5th of January is required.  Dana Marrier made a motion that the city pays for anyone that would want to go to the Leadership Conference and Ellen Coffel seconded it.  Approved 5-0.  Amy Marrier swore in all new elected officials.  Dana Marrier asked Amy Marrier to make sure GIS comes to the next city council meeting to discuss insurance.  Dana Marrier made a motion that Niki Mistelske be reimbursed for the charge to her of becoming a notary republic, seconded by Don Hawk, approved 5-0. 

 

A motion was made by Ellen Coffel to adjourn the meeting seconded by Don Hawk.  Approved by all.
