Special Warba City Council Meeting
May
19, 2003
Mayor Dana Marrier called the meeting to order at 7:10pm. Members present: Becky McCauley, Dana & Amy Marrier, Lois Holmes and Doug Mericle. Absent: Ellen Coffel. Guest: Tim Robison. The pledge of allegiance was read.
Amy
asked about the change in the High-speed Internet contract from 3 pc’s down to
2 pc’s. With the expenses, Tim Robison decided he was only able to offer
2 pc’s. One pc’s would be used for the city and the Internet service
to the community center would be at no cost to the City. Mr. Robison would
also install one of the pc’s and Internet service at the City of Warba fire
department offices at no charge.
The
City of Warba would be a wireless Internet hub for many cities in the future.
This year Tim’s goal is to get 20-25 people to sign up for his services.
Tim’s antennas, to be installed on the water tower, would not interfere with
the 911 special antennas. The insurance Tim holds will name Warba as a
co-Insured. Dana made a motion to accept the contract as read, and Becky
seconded. Approved 3-0
Tim
Robison, http://www.meadows.net/, will be
offering 256K for residential and 512K for business. As low as $300 per year on
service for residential 256K services. With the wireless account you also
get dial up access for traveling. 32,000 dial up number’s across the
United States for dial up Internet service. $9.50 for dial up service
without wireless service.
Dana
mentioned the air conditioner again and brought to the Council’s attention the
music night people being unhappy about not getting the air conditioner put in.
The council discussed in detail the pro’s and con’s into putting in the
unit. After a 40-minute discussion it was decided that the city would pay
¼ of the cost estimated at 1300 as agreed upon previously, and the remaining
$3900 would need to come from donations.
Becky made a motion to adjourn and Amy seconded it.
Respectfully submitted, Amy Marrier, City Clerk
