Warba City Council Meeting

September 18, 2002

The Warba City Council met at 6:30 p.m.  Call to order by Mayor Kelly McCauley.  Present, Kelly McCauley, Darlene Adolfs, Lois Holmes, Becky McCauley, Ellen Coffel.  Absent: Doug Mericle, Jerry Carey, Brian Borgman and Amy Marrier.  The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance.  The minutes of the August 19th meeting were read.  A motion by Becky to accept the minutes, seconded by Ellen.  Approved 4-0.  Treasures report was presented by Ellen, second by Darlene to accept the report.  Approved 4-0.  Outstanding bills were presented, a motion by Becky, seconded by Ellen to pay the bills, approved 4-0.

Committee Reports:  The community center eave spouts were installed, there was discussion whether down spouts are needed.  Tabled to watch how the spouts will work.  Grant letters were sent out for assistance on the air condition units.  Northland said they are unable to help.  Flu shots are set for November , from 2-3 p.m.  A motion by Becky to allow Mary Moody to conduct a healthy food class at the community center at no cost, seconded by Ellen.  Approved 4-0.  A motion by Becky, seconded by Ellen to purchase a new microwave for the community center.  Approved 4-0.

Fire:  There is a board meeting set for September.

Cemetery:  Ken and Jerry will move foot stones.  

City Development:  No grant money is available this year, but there is grant money for a city storm shelter.  More meetings are planned.

Correspondence:  Paul Reuvers sent a letter 8/23/02 concerning the upcoming trial date regarding the Beck Road.

Old Business:  Ed Fragale and Shane Kruger will be contacted regarding late water bills.  Jerry and Brian reported on the Utility work.  Kelly reported on the sewer work done on 2nd Ave. N. this past week.  Bunes and Holmquist contracted the work and repaired sewer lines.  

New Business:  Kelly requested consideration to change the meeting date to the 3rd Tuesday for October, November, and December.  A motion by Darlene, seconded by Kelly to change the meeting date.  Approved 4-0.  A motion by Ellen seconded by Becky to renew the liquor licenses for Chris Kruger and M.S. Bait for 2003 at the same rate.  Approved 4-0.  It was reported that some residents are burning trash in their yards, if noticed we should call the DNR.  

A motion by Ellen, seconded by Darlene to adjourn the meeting.  Approved.
