Warba City Council Meeting

July 15, 2002

The Warba City Council met at 6:30 p.m.  The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance.  Present: Kelly McCauley, Lois Holmes, Darlene Adolfs, Doug Mericle, Ellen Coffel, Becky McCauley.  The minutes of the June meeting were read.  A motion by Becky, seconded by Ellen to accept the minutes.  Approved 5-0.  Treasurers report was presented, a motion by Doug, seconded by Darlene to accept.  Approved 5-0.

Committee Reports:  Community Center.  A motion by Doug, seconded by Ellen to approve Sweedeen Masonry bid of $1635. for the front step repair.  A motion by Doug, seconded by Ellen to add $100. cleaning/garbage removal fee to all smaller activities.  This well be refunded after inspection of the community center.  Also, a contract must be signed by all.  Approved 5-0.  Darlene will secure estimates for an air conditioner unit.  

Recreation:  No DNR Grant was received.  Pavilion and restrooms will be constructed soon.  Lutheran Church will help install horseshoe area.  Rec board is searching for other uses for the ball field.  Cemetery meeting is set for October 21 at 6:30 p.m.  Building Quality Communities reports that plans are being made for National Night Out August 6, 2002. 

Old Business:  Brian and Jerry reported on the utility work.  Jim Heitala has been working on the water pump system.  Ponds need mowing.  Some ant control is needed in the pump house area.  Kelly, Doug, and Dana reported on the city development progress.  The plans are progressing and a meeting is set for Friday July 19 with Itasca Development and DTED for more information.  Recording the minimum maintenance roads is moving forward.

New Business:  Joe Ash attended to report on his bait business and requested a 3.2 beer license.  Doug Mericle moved to issue a non-intoxication malt liquor license to Joe Ash, seconded by Darlene Adolfs, approved 5-0.  Helen and Fred Bohn and Josh and Amy McCartney are new homeowners in the city.

A motion by Doug to adjourn, seconded by Darlene.  Approved.  Meeting adjourned.
