Warba City Council Meeting

20, 2002
The Warba City Council met at 6:30 p.m. The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance. Call to order by Mayor Kelly McCauley. Present: Lois Holmes, Darlene Adolfs, Kelly McCauley, Becky McCauley, Ellen Coffel, and Doug
Mericle. Others present were: Brian Borgman, Jerry Carey, and Amy Marrier. Minutes of the April meeting were read. A motion by Doug, seconded by Ellen to accept the minutes. Approved 5-0. Treasurer's report was presented. A motion Becky, seconded by Doug to accept. Approved 5-0. A motion by Kelly, seconded by Doug to purchase a $5000. six month C/D using the tower fund $2381.64 and 2618.36 from utility checking. Approved 5-0. Outstanding bills were presented and a motion by Ellen, seconded by Doug to pay the bills. Approved 5-0.
Committee Reports: Community Center - Bids will be secured for repair to the front cement step, which heaves up every winter. Return damage deposit of $100. to Misty Bailey will be paid. Pay Jerry for garbage removal.
Recreation: Doug reported on the progress of the playground work. A Lutheran group requested permission to help put in a horseshoe area. Doug will work with them.
Fire: Kelly and Bob Zuelkle will set up one meeting with Warba, Feeley, and Sago to discuss percentages. They are getting bids to sell the old truck.
Cemetery: Becky asked permission to use the Recreations portable toilet for Memorial Day. This was approved.
Correspondence: Attorney Paul Leuvers, LMC. contacted Kelly and wrote us that he is ready to meet with attorneys. Mr. Peterson and Kelly are going to try to resolve the gate situation. He confirmed the maintenance of the Beck road is consistent with maintenance of other minimum maintenance roads in Warba. The state demographicer indicated that the population of Warba in 186 in April 2001.
Old Business: Brian and Jerry reported on the utility system. A motion of Kelly, seconded by Doug to purchase an injector pump for fluoride at approximately $494. Approved 5-0. Kelly and Pat Pollard will meet soon to complete information for recording the minimum maintenance roads. Dog problems have been resolved. Mark
Carlson advised that he sent in the ISO information. A motion by Kelly to increase Jerry's wages effective immediately. His utility wage is now $300. per month. Seconded by Doug, three ayes, two nays - carried. A motion by Doug, seconded by Becky to set a special meeting on July 22 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss wages and utility rates, and to discuss the budget which will be set at the August meeting.
New Business: Roads will be graded soon. A motion by Ellen, seconded by Becky for Mark to purchase 3 new flags. Approved. Ellen reported she is putting on a new deck. Becky reported on attending the tourism meeting in Grand Rapids. Amy presented information about designing a brochure, which would list all businesses in this area of Warba,
Itasca County. She will contact business owners and bring a sample when completed. Doug reported on the recent city development meeting. Another meeting is set for June 13 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss short and long-term goals.
Re-applications for some projects and set stages for the project titled Lake Street Water and Sewer Extension Project. Doug moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ellen - meeting adjourned.
