Warba City Council Meeting
January 15th, 2002
The Warba city council met at 6:30pm. The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance.
Call to order by Kelly McCauley, Mayor. Present: Doug Mericle, Ellen Coffel, Becky McCauley, Lois Holmes, Kelly McCauley, Darlene
Adolfs. Guests: Frank Fairchild, Brian Borgman, Tim Satrang, Jerry Carey, Dana Marrier.
Minutes of the December meeting were read, a Motion by Becky and Seconded by Ellen to accept the minutes. Approved 5-0.
Treasurers: report was given by Lois. A Motion by Doug, Seconded by Darlene to accept the report. Approved 5-0.
Outstanding bills were presented. A Motion by Becky, Seconded by Doug to pay the bills.
Committee Reports:
Community
Center:
Community Center's front door ramp needed the cement ground off so the door opens properly.
A Motion by Ellen, Seconded by Kelly to okay the purchase of a larger TV and a roll away stand for the exercise group and other groups to utilize.
Approved 5-0.
Recreation: Frank reported that the hydrant is working good and the rink is open.
Fire: Stated that the new truck should arrive in March.
Cemetery: Next meeting is February 18th at 6:30pm.
City Development Meeting: Doug and Kelly reported on the meeting regarding determining our city's needs, updating water lines, shut off locations, pond dredging, and how to get funding.
Council and maintenance will determine which lines are on the priority list to be updated and look at needs for tomorrow.
Tim reported that sewer extension permits would be needed for the new project.
Old Business: Maintenance reported that pumps are working okay. Late bills have been paid. No response from the court regarding V. Johnson.
No response from our attorney about the Beck road/gate problem. A Motion by Becky, Seconded by Darlene to go to mail ballots on a trial basis for 2002.
Approved 5-0. Darlene will advise the county auditor.
New Business: A Motion by Kelly, Seconded by Darlene to approve the snowmobile trail at the same location, Approved 4-1.
Jerry mentioned contacting the owner of a car with no current license because it is parked illegally and blocking vision.
A Motion by Ellen, Seconded by Kelly to amend ordinance Section #304 Subdivision 6A to read; All landowners will receive the utility bills for their rental units. This is effective on the published date. Approved 5-0.
Council will review the liquor license rate.
The budget for 2002 was reviewed and accepted.
Dana spoke to the council about faster internet service for the area.
Committees for 2002: Recreation: Doug, Fire: Ellen, Cemetery: Becky, Food Shelf: Lois, Dog Catcher: Kelly, Civil Defense: Jerry, Weed Control: Darlene. Council approved: Herald Review as the newspaper, Bank: Grand Rapids State Band & Edward D Jones.
Review of utility rates was tabled. Review wages of all: all remained the same. Mileage changed to .32 cents per mile.
Review community center rates: a Motion by Doug Seconded by Kelly to double the rates. Approved 5-0.
Having a dumpster day was tabled.
Open Forum meeting is set for February 12th at 6:30pm.
City Development Meeting is set for January 23rd at 6:00pm.
A Motion by Becky to adjourn, Seconded by Ellen, meeting adjourned.
