Warba City Council Meeting Minutes

June 18, 2001


The June 18, 2001 City council meeting was called to order by Mayor Kelly McCauley. Present were Lois Holmes, Doug Mericle, Ellen Coffel, Kelly McCauley, Brian Borgman and Jerry Carey.
Absent: Darlene Adolfs, Becky McCauley. Guests attending: Mark Carlson, Archie Hall, Frank Fairchild.

Minutes of previous meeting were not available.

 

Treasures Report was read and accepted with a motion by Doug Mericle and seconded by Kelly McCauley.

 

Bills were presented. Ellen Coffel made a motion to pay the bills. Doug Mericle seconded the motion.

 

Committee reports:

Community Center: floors will be stripped and waxed for $400 on June 22-23. Teresa Card will oversee the job.  Billboard sign was discussed, it was tabled until other sources could be checked out.  (Sam's Club, Rick Tenson.)  Concrete at main door was discussed. Kelly McCauley will check with Mike McCauley to see what he suggests, they will then confer with Mark Carlson.

 

Recreation: Doug Mericle reported on a grant that the rec. department received from the Blandin Foundation in the amount of $25,000.  Discussed fixing the hydrant by the rec. area - Matter was tabled.

 

Fire: No report

Building Quality Communities: Meeting was held June 12. Linda Morrow spoke about programs that are available in the county through Elder-Circle.

Correspondence: Dana Marrier signed the sewer release forms.  Dog ordinance was sent to Terry Koppelman.  No more complaints have been heard.

Old Business: Watertower Co. checked the water tower.  Everything checked out OK.  Brian Borgman reported that they were doing some cleaning at the sewer ponds and put up some signs that the rain has since destroyed.  Consumer Confidence Report will be coming in July.  Resolution for Ken was tabled.  CAP Fuel Co. will send out pre-buy in June.  Jerry Carey reported on weed control: He is working on sewer ponds and will check other areas.  New owners at the motel (Maki)  Kelly McCauley will ask Warba Tire Co. to move the car that is blocking the sidewalk in front of their business.  Kelly McCauley will put up post to mark the water shut off at the motel.  Jerry Carey expressed his concern regarding the travel trailer parked next to Casper Leather Shop.  Jerry feels that the intersection is being blocked.  The City Council does not feel that there is a problem at this intersection but did agree to put up a stop sign on the north east corner (facing west).

New Business: Dick Voges from a reality co. called to ask about zoning the the J. Raimer property.  They have a buyer who wants to be able to hunt in the city limits.  Kelly McCauley informed them it was OK since it was not in the platted city area.  Ellen expressed her concern that a young person that is not a city employee was driving the city grader.  This is a liability concern for the city.  Jerry Carey stated that this person was of legal age.  Discussed using reclaimed tar on some city intersections.  This was tabled - Frank Fairchild will check on cost and availability.

 

Hearing no further business the meeting was adjourned with a motion by Doug Mericle and seconded by Ellen Coffel.
