Warba City Council Meeting Minutes

 

October 25, 2000

The Warba city council met for a special meeting on Oct. 25, 2000 at 5:30 p.m. Call to order by Mayor Kelly McCauley.  Present: Kelly McCauley. Ellen Coffel, Lois Holmes, Darlene Adolfs, Becky McCauley.  Absent: Doug Mericle.

 

The council approved: 

1. Paying Holmquist Excavating bill for 635.00 for installing a new curb stop near the apartment house.  

 

2. Increasing the water/sewer rates effective the 4th quarter, the exact amount will be set at the Nov. meeting.

 

3. Placing another ad in the Herald Review for the part-time maintenance job, with a deadline date of Nov. 17.  Interview dates will be set at the Nov. meeting.  

 

4. Business utility rates will apply for the Leather Shop and the Antique Mall.  

 

5. Consider beginning a utility commission made up of at large persons from the community. 

 

6. Consider searching out grants that are available for utility systems, rural water people are willing to help.

 

A motion by Darlene, seconded by Ellen to decease Jerry's utility fund wage to 230.00 monthly approved 4-0.

 

Discussion:  How often to have the water cleaned?  Tabled setting up a list of things to do and plan for future costs of the utility system.

 

There is a need for tools for the maintenance department.  Set aside 10% of utility income for future needs.

 

Rural water advised there was no need for a meter system for our size facility. 

 

There was discussion concerning proper procedures and setting schedules when hiring the maintenance person.  The council requested employees fill out a time and job completed sheet for work done. 

 

Sewer caps were replaced where needed. 

 

Only one late water bill was outstanding.

 

A motion by Ellen, seconded by Becky to adjourn - approved 4-0.  Meeting adjourned, Respectfully Darlene Adolfs, clerk.
