Warba City Council Meeting Minutes
October 16, 2000
The Warba city council met at 6:30 p.m. Call to order: by Mayor Kelly McCauley.
Present: Ellen Coffel, Doug Mericle, Kelly McCauley, Becky McCauley, Darlene Adolfs. Absent: Lois Holmes.
Minutes of the September meeting were read, a motion by Doug, seconded by Becky to accept the minutes - approved 5-0. Treasures report was
presented. A motion by Becky, seconded by Darlene to accept, approved 5-0.
Outstanding bills, 8773.14 General 616.27 Utility were presented, Ellen moved to pay the bills, a second by Becky, approved 5-0. Guest
Brian Borgman attended and reported on: The Flow meter is now reading correctly, he repaired the fence at the pond, cut brush, reports were
completed and signed. More additional utility spraying will be done next year. Water tower work will be competed soon.
Late water bill discussion: 3 patrons are late and the shut off date is the 25th.
Committee Reports:
Community center: Lights need to be replaced, discard one
microwave. Flu shots are 11/15/00.
Recreation: Becky reported on playground work and expenses. Rink workers are needed later. Rec meeting date will be soon.
Fire:
Ellen attended the fire board meeting - A truck purchase was discussed and they will pursue financing.
Cemetery: Becky attended the meeting, Art Norton was appointed president. They are researching surveying the new area for 8x10 plots.
Feeley Twp should appoint 1 more member.
Old business: Christmas decorations will be repaired, new lights added, work date to be set.
Utility discussion: 1. adjusting Jerry's wages after hiring Brian and Tim recently. 2. Water shut off near the apartment house needs repair. Becky made a motion, seconded by Doug to hire Holmquist for 750.00 to do the work. Approved 5-0. 3. Water rate adjustment. 4. maintenance job applications. 5. Set a date for interviews. All 5 subjects tabled for a special meeting on Oct. 25th, 2000 at 5:30 p.m.
Lake Country power was contacted to install 3 lights on Lake St.
A motion by Becky, seconded by Darlene to not offer lots 10 and 12 for sale at this time, 3 ayes 1 nay, 1 abstain. A planning committee will
be organized in Jan. 2001 to look at uses for this property.
A
minimum maintenance sign was installed on the Beck Rd.
New business: A motion by Darlene, seconded by Becky to renew Warba Liquor license for 2001 at the same rate, approved 5-0.
A motion by Ellen, seconded by Doug to pay Darlene mileage and special meeting fee for attending AEOA computer classes - approved 5-0.
Ellen reported that the Catholic church may sell their property south of the church for building sites and they were advised that the owner would be obligated to build the road into the property and it is not the cities obligation.
The leather shop will have open house Oct 30.
It was reported that when the storm sewers were cleaned, rocks and glass were put onto the lawn. This will be cleaned up.
Council approved sending a newsletter with the water bills when there is news.
