Warba City Council Meeting Minutes
June 19, 2000
The Warba city
council met at 6:30 p.m.
Called to order by Mayor Kelly McCauley.
Present : Ellen
Coffel, Darlene Adolfs, Kelly McCauley, Doug Mericle and Becky McCauley.
Absent: Lois Holmes.
Minutes of the May were read. A motion by Doug, seconded by Becky to
approve the minutes as read., approved 5-0.
Treasurers report was presented, A motion by Ellen, seconded by Darlene to accept the report. Approved 5-0.
Outstanding bills in the amount of $1201 from general fund, $5579 from utility fund were presented, A motion by Ellen, seconded by Becky to pay the bills. Approved 5-0.
Approved: Lake Country to remove 2 large trees S. of the community center. Mark Carlson to repair rock siding, Jerry to trim the cedar trees, Kerry Lindahl will mow the grass, a round table was purchased.
Committee Reports:
Rec: MNDot - Sent a conditional use letter regarding the ditch work. They will provide a culvert. Rec area is staked out for a roadway and play ground area. Bids are being received from contractors for the work. More grant work is needed later on.
Fire Dept.: Harold Madsen, a fire dept. representative, attended to present
the pension proposal. A motion by Ellen Coffel to approve the increase of the
fire pension plan from $500 to $600 per year of service. Seconded by Becky
McCauley. Approved by 5 -0. A copy of the minutes will be sent to
Harold Madsen.
Weed comm: Darlene inspected streets, alley and roadway and rec. area for
toxic weeds. Council approved Jerry Carry to purchase weed killer and
spray infected areas.
Correspondence: Fair board asked for $300 donation. Council approved
to remain at $100 donation. Dana Marrier presented the council with blue
prints of his storage building plans. Dana offered to donate a used
computer to the city. The council approved.
Old business: Flow meters were installed by Itasca Electric 6/17/00. Brian Bergman and Tim Satrang from Grand Rapids public utilities attended and inspected the water and sewer system. They will prepare a utility work proposal, to be presented in July, for doing testing, calibrating, and technical aspects of the sewer ponds to assist in keeping the city in compliance for our permit with MPCA. Kelly and Jerry will locate a contractor to haul dirt for the muskrat burrows. A motion by Ellen, seconded by Doug that Mayor McCauley has a week to resolve the late and unpaid motel and residence bill before June 26h Approved 5-0.
New business: Zoning office issued a permit for a new sewer on the Geo.
Reasoner property. A mobile home will be put on the property at a later
date. The council approved not to sell the chain link fence on the play
ground lot. Realtor Bill Mohs contacted the city regarding zoning on
Sportsmax property. New owner must contact the council for approval of
new business.
Spring clean up: Lets make Warba beautiful. All residents can help
by
cleaning up their yards. Liquor store owner is removing the old garage
bldg.. The rubbish pile on Beck rd. will be burned. Water rates tabled
for July.
A motion by Ellen, seconded by Kelly to increase clerk salary to $1500
per year effective June 19, 2000. Approved 5-0.
A motion by Kelly, seconded by Doug to increase Treas. salary 930 to per
year effective June 19, 2000. Approved 5-0.
A motion by Ellen to adjourn, seconded by Doug. Approved 5-0
