Notes from the Feeley/Warba Recreation board meeting on 6/26/00

In attendance were: Becky McCauley, Warren Spawn, Lori Hamm, Tami Richardson, Mark Carlson, Amy Bean, and Kevin Sarja

Lori Hamm suggested that Tami Richardson be nominated to the Recreation board. The question was asked how many people are allowed on the board.  Warren thought it was only 4 people.  We decided we should review the recreation board by-laws to be sure.  Lori will be talking to Darlene Adolfs to see if she knows where the by-laws are.

There was a short discussion about the quarterly report, what funding we have for our park and also what has been paid for.

Kevin Sarja(who had been contacted by Tami Richardson) submitted a bid proposal for the park dirt work and discussed with us what this included.  Kevin's bid included the drainage of the road and putting a culvert underneath the road so it drains to the ditch by the county garage.  Casper Construction (who had been contacted by Becky McCauley) also put in a bid.  The decision will be made at the July 5th meeting to whom we go with.

We talked about the ball fields, getting the base lines done and Kevin was hired to do this for under $100.

Warren and Kelly are going to talk to the county on June 27 about bringing in class 5 and pit run for our road.  They hope the county will donate this in place of the use of the recreation land for their equipment storage.

Warren asked Kevin how much he would charge to have class 5 hauled from the Warba pit.  Kevin said $35.00 per load or $3.50 per yard.

We are going to check and see if we can get fill dirt cheaper from a closer pit.  Kevin has to charge on the distance.  His bid is for dirt from his pit which is a distance.  He said if we can find some closer it would be cheaper.

Warren is checking with Lyn Ganky and Henry Carlson and Amy Bean is checking with Keith Austin.

The board agreed on the Tunnel explorer play set that is on sale at GameTime for $7071 plus tax and shipping and handling.  They asked Lori and Tami to call to get complete a price and find out how much cement we will need for the footings.

Amy Bean brought up craft day they have for the kids.  It was discussed that the Goodland Presbyterian church is currently doing this all over the area, including at the Warba Community Center. They would like help purchasing the materials.  She figures about $60.  She will get back to us and let us know what is going on.  Amy is going to check into this further.

Next meeting is set for July 5th at 6:00 pm at the Warba Community Center

Respectfully, Lori Hamm
