Notes From Warba/Feeley Recreation Meeting on 03/26/01 

In attendance were Warren Spawn, Doug Mericle, Lori Hamm, Mark Carlson, Wade Fauth and Frank Fairchild

Skating Rink
Frank informed us that the skating rink closed for the season on March 1st. 

Frank also informed us that a piece in the water hydrant had broken. Jerry Carey and Frank replaced the broken part inside of the hydrant, but were not able to get it to work properly at that time. For the time being, water to the hydrant has been shut off.  Mark and Doug will talk with the city of Warba to see that it gets fixed.

Playground
Wade Fauth from the Blandin Foundation attended the meeting to ask us some questions regarding the grant we applied for. Wade will review our grant with the Blandin Foundation board on May 23rd and 24th.  Doug took Wade over to the playground site to show him the work that has been completed to date.  Lori will send Wade a copy of the Warba/Feeley recreation resolution. 

Lori discussed the phone call she received on 3/23, from Audrey, of the DNR Grant Program. Audrey informed Lori that the recreation board could not use any of the already completed work as "matching funds" and that $36,000.00 in matching funds would be needed to get the grant. 

It was discussed that the recreation board has $5,000.00 for rink removal and if the Blandin grant comes thru with $25,000.00, plus the estimated $6,500.00 in MNDot in kind service of ditching work, we would then have the matching funds. 

The recreation board needs to send the DNR Grant Program our revised plan including the bathroom and the handicapped accessible trail.

Warren will talk with Kelly about the ditching work MNDOT will be doing at the playground area.

The board discussed using asphalt instead of concrete in the skating rink upgrade. The recreation board will check into this and cost compare. We also discussed having the sidewalks made of asphalt as well. 

The board will talk with Cohasset and Coleraine to see if they are happy with the asphalt skating rink they had installed.

Frank will talk with Hawkinson const. to get an estimate of cost. Someone will need to measure the distance of the sidewalks.
