Notes From Warba/Feeley Recreation Meeting on 01/17/02 at 5:30p.m
In attendance were Warren Spawn, Doug Mericle, Mark Carlson, Lori Hamm, and Frank Fairchild.

The first thing discussed is the DNR grant and whether we want to apply for it again this year.  It is due on March 30th and if we want to apply for it we would have to have another hearing and we would have to hold off on starting the Bandin Grant project, which is the bathroom and pavilion until July.  Lori had talked to Wade Fauth on 1/16/02 and he said we could extend the due date so we can use their grant as matching funds.  Then we discussed who would write the grant.  Lori would be willing to write the grant but she will not do it for free this time.  She had written the Blandin Grant and the DNR grant last year at no cost.  She said there is a lot of time involved in it and if we want her to write it she would only charge if we get the grant.  She had said other grant writers get 5 to 10 % of the grant and all she is asking is 5%, if the grant is awarded to us.  Mark motioned that we have Lori Hamm write the grant, Doug seconded it, and all were in favor.  There was a contract signed between the board and Lori.  We set up hearing dates for the same day as the City Council and Feeley Township meets.  Warba will have there's on February 19th and Feeley has there's on February 14th. 

Rink
Frank Fairchild showed up to update us on the rink.  The ice is good now but it has been a bad year for skating.  Frank changed the hours to 5- 8 on weekdays and 1 - 8 on weekends.  Shirley Lindahl and Russ Locken are working it along with Frank.

Ball field
We discussed getting in touch with Grand Rapid little league and letting them know the field is available for practices or games.  We also discussed using taconite tailings for the baseline.  Frank is going to check into this.
